Black Country School Games

The Black Country School Games is an Olympic/Paralympic style school sport competition. It is a culmination of a pyramid of competitive opportunities and events designed to engage and inspire more young people in sport. Each level is open to all schools across The Black Country harnessing the power of the Olympics/Paralympics.

As well as showcasing the best of the Black Countrys Sporting Talent the games provides a platform to showcase the work of leadership programmes around sport, with over 500 young leaders supporting the delivery of the games.

Many are through sport specific leader programmes which will see them officiating many of the activities. Allied to this will be nearly 100 leaders who will either undertake central event management core roles, as well as providing visual and written media coverage of the games on this site.

During the School games in 2011 the organisers made use of the live broadcast feature on our WEBtv format, allowing visitors to the site to watch the games in real time.
During the 2012 Winter Olympics a different format was used whereby the videos were edited on site and uploaded straight away as a highlights reel featuring interviews and snippets of footage from the various sports.
